John Baldessari

John Baldessari, the hugely influential American conceptual artist, passed away on January 2. “Through his hybrid works and teaching, he helped build the Los Angeles art scene, mentoring a who’s who of contemporary artists” (New York Times). This spring Moderna Museet shows the first extensive presentation of his work in Sweden. Malmsten Hellberg was asked to design the catalogue, featuring both his texts and 35 of his works. The solution was a large publication, somewhere between a luxurious magazine and a traditional art book, where Baldessari’s own texts stand out as works of art.
